Overview

Ruaha National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania. Ruaha is known for its vast, wild landscapes and diverse wildlife. Particularly its large population for lions and elephants. Ruaha National Park is located in the southern part of Tanzania. In 2008 the Usanga game merged with the Ruaha national Park hence it being the largest national park in Tanzania. The park covers 45,000 km2 which it includes the Rungwa Game Reserve, the Kizigo and Muhesi Game Reserve and the Mbamipa Wildlife Management. The name Ruaha came from the great Ruaha river which flows along the southern margin and has a very beautiful focus during the game drive.

Best time to visit

During dry season from May to October the park has no rain hence it is a good time to visit. The wildlife migrates to drink water in the Ruaha river and other water sources making them easy to spot.

November to April is great for bird watching and seeing lush landscapes because its during wet seasons
