Overview

Tarangire national park is also located in the northen part of Tanzania. The name Tarangire came from the river that flows through the central park and from dry season refuge for wildlife especially elephants. Tarangire national park is worldly  known for  large elephant herds and big baobab trees.

Birdlife in tarangireis just amazing , About 550 species of birds are  found in tarangire national park and they are a big number than the number of birds found in Serengeti national park.

Tarangire is not that famously known park in the world but it’s a beautiful park that has great weather , big number of animals . in Tarangire park you can see lots of animals as well as birds , just slightly similar to Serengeti national park. During the end of dry season, elephants dig into the riverbed to reveal underground water, or are looking for Baobab trees to slake their thirst.

  • Arusha to Tarangire : Appr 3 hours
  • Tarangire to manyara national park: 1 hour
  • Tarangire to Ngorongoro crater : 2 hours

  •  Tarangire national park has big elephant herds and other animals and you will see them in the tarangire river.

Best time to visit

Tarangire national park is best visited all year round .  one would enjoy to visiting during ( June – October ) that’s when there is water scarcity and lots of animals drink only at the tarangire river . During raining season ( April , may) animals move to the neighbouring villages  because the environment isn’t satisfactory with their hooves .

What to expect in Tarangire National Park

Tarangire has a large number of gigantic  baobab trees , lots of elephants , and for birf lovers  would enjoy the number of birds that are available.
